    AGIV-metadata centre

    The AGIV metadata centre covers all the products (data and/or services) that pass through Informatie Vlaanderen. The agency provides quality guarantees and free, professional service provision.

    By describing data, services and applications, we guide users through the range of geographical informattion. What data is available? Where can I find it? What are the conditions of use? How current and reliable is this information? Metadata answers these questions, avoids repeated creation of data and ensures that geographical information can be found quickly.

     

     

    Metadata centres for data administrators

    • AGIV metadata centre
      The AGIV-metadata centre covers all the products (data and/or services) that pass through Informatie Vlaanderen. Informatie Vlaanderen provides quality guarantees and free, professional service provision.
    • Geopoint metadata centre
      The Geopoint metadata centre covers all the products (data and/or services) that do not pass through Informatie Vlaanderen. Either directly via this metadata centre itself or via another metadata centre.

    • Best Practices and guidelines
      The creation of metadata must be done in accordance with the ISO standards, the INSPIRE guildelines and/or the GDI-Flanders Best Practices guidelines for metadata.
    • Publications
      Publications on metadata on the intro page on metadata on Geopoint.
    • How to work in practice?
      This user guide, together with the (more technical) 'GDI-Flanders Best Practices for Metadata' document forms a guide for the preparation, managing and publishing of metadata.

      The Geopunt-catalogue adresses a wide audience with a simple user interface and a summary of metadata. The catalogue contains data en services. Is is possible to consult and/or download data and services using the Geopunt-map.
